VIDEO: Servicios De La Raza led a community clinic that vaccinated 600 people over three days in the organization’s parking lot in Denver, Jan. 29 to Jan. 31, 2021. “The vaccine is free,” Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez-Fisher said. “We only need your name, your date of birth, your phone number, maybe your address. The only thing you need to do is let us use your arm.”

Rudy Gonzales, Executive Director of Servicios De La Raza, urged people to take the vaccine. “It’s an actual question of life and death in our community,” he said. “Just a few months ago, our death rate was at 56 per cent, compared to 11 per cent in the white community.”

Gonzales said the pandemic has laid bare for his community the economic, social and educational disparities in the United States.
